Suruwat, Inc. was originated in Jacksonville, Florida in February 2009 in light of the needs demonstrated by the refugee community.
Despite the melancholic stories beneath their tear-filled eyes and inevitable evidence of struggle in their smiles, their relentless determination to persevere and succeed is truly an inspiration.
Each person in the refugee community carried an unique talent, humble individuality and most of all, welcoming arms to anyone that sought their friendship. That welcome went a long way in getting the community involved in their lives and the struggles they faced, including the attention of three young entrepreneurs whose passion lied in helping the community.
That occasional driving lesson, or calling the utility company to square away the electric bill, or translating their ESOL homework soon turned into a full-fledged idea of equipping them with the measures to establish their independence.
Mission Statement
